Tourmaline Tensile Ring
Designer Shelby Jay exposes her background and knowledge in the field of architecture through this ring series. Both architecture and jewelry are inextricably concerned with space, light, geometry, and texture, and these are just as carefully considered in miniature as they are on a large scale. In these pieces, she challenges traditional stone setting techniques and harnesses her structural knowledge to set the vast tourmaline stone in this unconventional matter.
The form of the ring is inspired by the prestigious “Jenga Building” in Tribeca Manhattan, while the fun and unique tourmaline stones thoughtfully selected are inspired by the building’s unique dwellers.
