"Let's Celebrate" Matchbox Pendant

Shelby Jay was inspired to create the Matchbox pendant after a romantic dinner in the South of France. The restaurant had a tray of matchboxes, and being a collector, she took one on her way out. In the distance, she heard a celebratory group say “Faisons la Fete!”, which means “lets celebrate” in French. She clutched the matchbox in one hand, and her lover’s hand in the other. It was that moment she began to view the matchbox as an emblematic object, a tiny vessel with the power to take you back to a special time or place. The social phenomena of matchbox collecting requires commitment, dedication, and ritual, just like life’s most important relationships.
The Matchbox Pendant is made up of 14 Karat Gold, finished with a high polish, except for the striker which is a matte finish to mimic match friction material. Rare Biwa Pearls are set in place of the match sticks, giving a romantic luster and elegance. The text is made up of gleaming Natural Rubies.
